The good thing about doing the clothes and jewelry blog for the Neighborhood is that I keep happening on new, up-and-coming products that have only just hit the market, or have been out for a short while. Now, just because something is new doesn’t make it wonderful and great, so up front I will promise to never recommend products I haven’t personally tried, worn, and washed. After placing my order on a Monday, my RibbedTee shirts—which come two in a package—showed up in my mailbox speedy quick. They were there by Thursday (though it might have been Wednesday and I just forgot to get the mail?), and I wore the first one on Friday. To me, that’s an impressive turnaround time.
As soon as I opened the package, I knew my RibbedTee was different from my other favorite undershirts. For one thing, they’re ribbed. Duh. But the 100% cotton fabric is oh-so-soft and very stretchy. Big points there. And then there is the neckline. I love undershirts like Shade, but I’ve got to be honest. Depending on the outfit, the neck on those ones is a lot of times too high or too round. RibbedTee offers a V-neck, which I LOVE.
I got the pink—though the company offers black and white in the women’s tops as well—and wore it with my low-rise jeans. The first day, I chose to wear it over the top of a plain white camisole, because—well, I thought it would be cute that way. It was long enough to cover all (with no risk of plumber’s crack), and I didn’t have a single problem with it riding up where it wasn’t supposed to go. The fabric felt heavenly against my skin, the ribbed texture slimming, and the V-neck was a nice change.
A lot of people complemented me on that top, and after running it through a wash and dry cycle, it still looks new and the fabric still feels soft. More points.
There’s a lot of pink in my wardrobe, so I went through my closet to see what other outfits with which I might wear my RibbedTee. The V-neck looks especially good with vests and jackets, since that kind of cut follows more tailored lines in clothing, so it went really well with my business suit. Also, I found it a fun, feminine addition to flirty, floating skirts and Capri pants. Under a cropped sweater, my RibbedTee enhanced my waistline and kept the sweater fabric from making me too itchy—because sometimes wool does that. As mentioned on the RibbedTee website, this top is comfortable enough to wear to bed—and it goes really well with my favorite Victoria’s Secret flannel pants. Talk about versatile!
Since I got two, my twelve-year-old daughter persisted to beg me for the other one. I gave in, mostly because I needed to see what she thought so I’d know if I should order her some for Christmas. The answer to that question is, yes, I should. She loved it too.
RibbedTees are a must have for the 2009 fashion year, but don’t think for a minute that girls are the only people who can wear them. They also offer a variety of styles for men.
RibbedTees for men come in Classic Fit, Enhanced Fit, and Relaxed Fit, are made from 100% ribbed cotton, and come with a few neck-line options. All but the Relaxed Fit for men and the Women’s V-Neck tops will shrink a little, so keep that in mind. I asked a company rep how the Relaxed Fit and Women’s styles can be 100% cotton and not shrink, and was told that the cotton is “finished” before hand, instead of after. Basically, I took this as a similar explanation to pre-shrunk. At any rate, my V-neck didn’t shrink, so whatever they did to it worked.
The cotton is lightweight, breathable, and stretches to fit any body type, and the special tailored cut prevents bunching and riding—always a plus in my book. The sizes range from XXS in women’s to XXL in men’s and I’m told they run a little big, so they accommodate a variety of sizes.
As I mentioned earlier, these come two in a package and are offered in black, white, and—for women—pink, and are versatile enough to be worn under things, or as a layering top. I’m thinking I’ll order some for my kids to go with our Christmas pajama bottoms, so they can double as undershirts for their sweaters and other winter-gear. My fifteen-year-old son will appreciate a good undershirt to wear with his white church shirt.
As far as downsides go, there are only three color options for women, and two for men—which is due to the fact that the company is so new. And RibbedTee products are only available on their website, so there is no looking, feeling, or trying before you buy. RibbedTees are returnable, and they definitely want customer satisfaction, but you’re responsible for the shipping. However, despite those things, I highly recommend giving them a try. For the price, (up to $24.95 for a package of two) you really can’t go wrong. Personally, I can’t wait for more color options (how about nude? Blue? Purple?) so I can order several of the women’s V-neck T’s.
I’m rating this product four out of five diamonds. And guess what? RibbedTee has graciously offered a 10% discount to my readers! Just type in the coupon code, “Fairysqueak” at the checkout and you’ll get 10% off your entire purchase.

Nichole,
They sound really cool! Did you have a picture of you wearing one and I missed it?
Thanks for letting us know we get a discount, too!
Hi Cindy,
No picture of me, just the RibbedTee models. But they are really cute, and long enough to go under anything.
Thanks for commenting!
Nichole
These look so cute. I'm going to buy some for me and Brittany.
I'm with you on the v-neck. It makes me feel more feminine.
But now I have to decide . . . which color do I want?
Thanks for the great review. I love undershirts and I think my closet needs one of every color in the rainbow. :)
